Well, it was a long day of driving but I made it back to San Diego at midnight last night with our new addition to the family. Here's a picture of Stella Blue and Stella 2 (real name McTavish) getting to know each other. McTavish is the name the previous owners (Anne & Dave) affectionately gave their Westy.
After the paperwork was done Anne sent me on my way with the typical batch of Good Westy Karma. McTavish ran like a top and made it up and over the the Grapevine effortlessly.Thank you Anne, and rest assured, your Westy will be well cared for.
While McTavish gets some rest I need to shift my focus back to Stella and get the last minute repairs done. Will I be on the road Friday, Saturday or Sunday?!?

ReplyDeleteIs Stella 2 to be cannibalized for parts or will she be allowed to "live" as a vehicular entity on her own merits? Are you, perhaps, developing a Westy fetish? How will this impact your relationship with the "other woman" in your life? Are you really leaving town or are you just trying to win the hearts of fellow Westy lovers with this tale of a spurned "North to Alaska" trip gone bad? And if you are really going Inuit are you aware that some of the so-called roads in Canada are actually glorified moose trails? LOKEDOG

ReplyDeleteGreat questions, LOKEDOG! Stella will live on in her own right - after some serious cosmetic surgery. She is strong where it counts though - 2.1 liters of "dependable" VW displacement. And the trip north to Alaska is for real. Just making sure I've covered all the bases! Talk with you soon!
