North to Alaska!

Today is May 3, 2009. It was 30 years ago today that I left my home in Boston for the Air Force. I thought it would be fitting on this day to post the first message to the blog I'll be using to track my next adventure. I'll fill in the background as we go along for anyone following this blog, and will also use it to post pictures and updates from the journey to the top of the world.

In about 2 weeks I'll be loading Stella Blue (my 1987 VW Westfalia camper) for the journey to the Arctic Circle and beyond. Friends and family will be getting an invite to sign on to the San Diego Westy blog, and those that choose to check it out, I look forward to sharing this adventure with you. That's it for now. Much, much more to follow.

Pete

  1. Well, its been 30 years since my baby left home to join the Air Force.....and look at what a fine man he has turned out to be. Happy 30th Anniversary Sargeant Adams. I'm proud of you, and proud to be with you. My thoughts will be with you every day during this next chapter of your life, that will be an adventure on land....the road trip north to see beautiful, wild territory you've yet to lay eyes on.

    Big love, baby.

  6. 16 years ago this month (May, 1993) I went to work with you and the rest of the crew at that assylum in Carlsbad. Ever since then I've always looked upon you as a solid example in both business and handling the duties as a dad. I hope to find that the trip goes well and you enjoy the countryside along the way. Although we are just now returning to a normal routine following my daughter's 4-year fight with cancer, we must remain close to home during her recovery. As I am not able to get out much, I will follow your trip with great enthusiasm as it offers much to look forward to in the coming weeks. Best of luck, bruddah and keep 'em flying! Jeff.

  7. Amazing Pete. You're off on another adventure and I'm again watching with awe and jealousy.

I hope you have a wonderful time and you can rest assured that Sara and I will be following along with you.

I have relatives up there in Alaska as well so if you find yourself in need, just let me know and I'll hook you up. It's always nice to know, even if uneeded, therer's someone you can rely on out there in the wilds of the world.

Be safe and I look forward to hearing about your adventures in person when you return.
